Falling In Love

Everything about this place has me totally captivated. Every block has something beautiful and each new place we go has something new to observe. I wasn't too pleased with Paris when I first got here, but now that Karin and I have mastered the metro system, we have gotten to go to some of the GOOD places and see how amazing Paris really is!
Karin and I woke up this morning and were very proud to be able to walk ourselves to the local Carrefour and back without getting
lost, with the help of our map only 5 or 6 times. We observed the local woods/park, Le Bois de Boulogne, and continued to express our disappointment that we were banned from running there. Our host parents recently informed us that...uhh...women of disreputable profession practiced business there at night. And what with our usually scandalous attire, Karin and I could easily be mistaken for such.
We had our first class on religion today. It is taught by Professor Euvrard who just got a PhD in History of the LDS Church in France. It is amazing to be learning the history of these places and having them be right down the street from us! Talk about hands on.

After our class, a couple of us decided to go to the Eiffel Tower! It is so much bigger than I thought and so incredible! We exited the metro
near the Napoleon statue just in time for it to start POURING on us. This is while we still had some semblance of dryness.

The wind was rather tempestuous as well and nearly broke my umbrella, but thankfully I fixed it. Unfortunately I had to put it away because the wind was knocking me over, and we all got DRENCHED on our walk from the Napoleon statue to underneath little Eiffey! Note my happy face... It was cold enough that Zach and I could both honestly complain of BRAINFRE
EZE from the hard rain and the wind! Luckily none of us have gotten sick...yet.

We headed back to Professor Patterson's place early for family home evening because it was too cold outside and we were too wet to do anything else. After seeing our dripping faces on his doorstep, he was kind enough to le
nd us all some of his, his wife's, and his son's clothes to warm up in while ours went in the dryer. We had a fun night of tacos, break dancing, pilates, yoga, ballet, Get Smart, facebooking, and card games!

Here is one of my manifestations of clumsiness: one of a few bruises from tripping up the metro stairs! Sorry the lighting doesn't show is very well. But it is there!
